The ROCKET EQ provides dual shelving filters plus a fully parametric band, for the ultimate compact EQ boost pedal. The parametric band has an ultra-wide frequency and Q range, and we spared no expense in this update - using 4 OPA2134 high-fidelity op amps and 25 low-noise, audio-grade resistors made by PRP in Iowa. To top it off, the ROCKET EQ employs an internal charge pump for double the clean headroom off a standard 9V supply.

DualMode Switching

We combine durable true bypass relay switching with an effect-side FET switch for pure and smooth switching.

A modern, high-speed op amp was chosen for its low-noise and high-fidelity properties.

A simple voltage inverter circuit was used to effectively turn 9V into 18V. No need for special power supplies.

DualMode Switching can convert the footswitch into momentary operation.

To use, wait 5 seconds, then press the sequence tap+tap+hold until LED flashes.

USA Made PCBs

Our circuit boards are made in the USA by Advanced Circuits (large PCB runs) or OSH Park (small PCB runs).

PRP Audio Resistors

We used low noise, low inductance resistors made for audio circuits by Precision Resistive Products in the USA.*

HOW THE ROCKET EQ CAME TO BE

THE STORY

"The Rocket EQ is the result of repeated attempts to put the flexibility of a parametric EQ in a format that doesn't take up a large amount of precious pedalboard space. Over the years, there have been many revisions, with the latest version finally achieving the tonal versatility I envisioned when designing the first prototype back in 2009.

 

If you are looking for a pedal to give your amp a little something extra, or take away an offending frequency, create a stuck wah sound, or give a gentle mid boost for standing out the mix, the Rocket EQ can do that...and a whole lot more."

Here is the list of versions of the Rocket EQ circuit:

 

#1 - The original version had only one band of EQ. This range of this band was adjusted by the FREQ control & 3-way Low-High-Mid switch. It had separate active gain & passive level controls to adjust the amount of volume & drive.

 

#2 - The second version removed the passive level control and 3-way switch, and added in active bass & treble circuitry based on a popular mixer board EQ.

 

#3 - The second version was later revised to reduce noise and add in two passive sub-bass & presence variable cut filters (via internal trimpots). The bandwidth range of the Q control was also slightly extended.

 

#4 - The third version increased the range of several controls, and made improvements to lower current demand for battery use without significantly reducing headroom. This was also the first model to incorporate DualMode switching.

 

- Completely overhauled parametric section for a greater Q and frequency range, plus more boost/cut over various different Q settings

- Now uses 4 high-fidelity OPA2134PA op amps for low noise, high-fidelity performance

- Low-noise, audiophile resistors from PRP Inc (made in USA)
